"During the development of the Rocket Raptor version
4.0, we had to machine and install some incredibly
tall gearing to get the Yamaha 700R to the speeds we
needed to fend of Graham Hicks expected revenge as
well as break our own current world speed record. To
turn the gear ratios we would be running, we had to
get the engine to produce some serious horsepower and
torque. Even though we had done some significant
engine modifications, we needed more power. To that
end, we installed the BOSS NOSS system, which included
a BOSS TFI Box and BOSS Nitrous system designed
specifically for the Yamaha 700R. The same system is
available to the general public.
It was a complete kit and installation was straight
forward. It came with the best bottle brackets we
have ever seen on a nitrous setup. We selected
nozzles for a 30HP shot and headed for the track.
After a few practice
runs down the Freightliner test track, the NWOTA
technicians prepared the speed detectors and gave me
the green-light to go. I staged at the northern end
of the track and armed the BOSS NOSS system, activated
the E-Ram and spooled up the rocket motor. My safety
gear was checked one last time by the handler and off
I went. At fifth gear, I wicked the BOSS activation
button. My GPS immediately climbed to over
100mph. The amazing aspect to this system was that the
power remained consistent through the entire half mile
run. Most nitrous systems immediately drop power as
the bottle pressure and temperature decreases during
gas depletion. This wasn’t the case with the BOSS
system. As I approached the quarter mile speed
marker, I hit the rocket motor activator switch. I
tore through the time traps and I could feel the
acceleration and the high pitched rocket whine behind
me. I decelerated and approached the track handler at
the southern end of the track. He reported that the
timers recorded a run of 149.35 mph. Holy crap!
Another new record"
We absolutely could not have achieved this feat if we
had not installed the BOSS NOSS system. Not only was
the system flawless, the technicians at BOSS
Industries were incredibly supportive and we owe them
our heartfelt thanks.
Take our word for it, this system rocks…….but then
what do I know, I’m just the fastest ATV rider on the
entire planet. Ask Guinness World Records."
